Character Information

General
Canon Source: Homestuck
Canon Format: Comics
Character's Name: Roxy Lalonde
Character's Age: 15 (almost 16; it's said in the series that her birthday is just a few days after Jake English's birthday, which seems to be in less than a month's time.)
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A

What form will your character's NV take? Roxy's NV will take the form of her smart phone. It will have text, voice, and video settings.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Roxy, like other characters from the Homestuck series, has a sylladex, which is an inventory system that stores a character's items. Roxy's Fetch Modus is called the MESSAGE IN THE BOTTLE modus, and it is used as follows: Roxy captchalogues an item into a light grey captchalogue card, which is made smaller by the modus, stuffed into a bottle, and stored away in a large gray cabinet. To retrieve the item again, Roxy must break the bottle the card is contained in.

In canon, Roxy is the Rogue of Void. It's been said in the series that a hero of Void "presides over the essence of lack, or nothingness, the obfuscation of knowledge, or its outright destruction." The Rogue part of her title has been likened to a "Robin Hood" role -- that is, a passive thief who steals from the rich and provides to the needy. Unfortunately, no more details have been given as to how exactly the role and the aspect fit together. Should Roxy reach full ascension as the Rogue of Void in canon and I wish to bump her up, I would certainly contact the mods and discuss it in more detail.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? N/A
Weapons: Roxy's weapon of choice is a high octane laser gun. She's also very adept at fighting with her own two fists!

Character Personality: The first thing one would notice about Roxy Lalonde is her near-constant inebriation. This teenage girl enjoys her alcohol like no one else, and due to lack of parental supervision and an abundance of available alcohol around in her household, she is often drunk. This particularly shows in her chats to her friends, as she is constantly seen making ridiculous typos when she sends messages to them. She even likes to take afternoon naps to sleep off the booze, because sometimes her drinks make her unbelievably drowsy.

Amicable and sociable, Roxy often toes the line between pert and casual. It could be loosely associated with mild tipsiness, but it's more that the facets of her personality embody the line between a more sober, sensible understanding of what's going on around her being pitted against the need to impishly lighten up a situation. In fact, Roxy tends to appreciate taking a more laid-back and light-hearted approach to things, in general, if only to accordingly compartmentalize and not have to indulge negative feelings.

She often lets on, in slight nods of acknowledgment, that she's quite aware of the underlying dynamics of any situation, but chooses to approach it lightly regardless, for the most part. As mentioned before, she appears to be nearly always drunk, though the nature of how she likes to mess around with people can make it ambiguous regarding just how drunk she is, and how much of it is her playing it up for laughs or to possibly get away with saying something she wouldn't, otherwise. Her close friend, Dirk Strider, has noticed that she will typo deliberately to mess around with him, because while she'll claim to be drunk in the conversation, she has been seen to type in perfect statements later on. This trait of hers is intricately tied to the rather sneaky, scheming approach she has in navigating the relationships and events immediately surrounding her, as she enjoys using her cunning to have a degree of control in her life.

An extension of this trait seems to display itself in Roxy's very efficient and capable hacking skills, and the keen observational insight she has on occurrences within Crockercorp, a shady corporation that her best friend Jane Crocker is heiress apparent to, and SBURB ALPHA, the game that Roxy's friends wish to start playing. Since her remarks on these often come out flung casually, they can be dressed up as drunken ramblings and slightly nonsensical, which can be said for many words that come out of Roxy's mouth that might have more meaning to them, should she choose to slip some meaning in. All of this seems in stark contrast to how casually and honestly she goes about most things, and yet none of this indicates that she's manipulative or acting out of malice. In fact, Roxy is more motivated by the sheer intensity of how much she values the people around her, which is further fueled by her sense of loneliness.

She's an ardently loyal and supremely protective friend, and her impulsiveness and slightly reckless and scheming attitude can make her be in over her head in trying to help a friend. Since she's partially motivated by loneliness (and boredom, from being stuck underground with nothing to do half the time), she's often just trying to keep the glue on her friendships and have them function properly and with as little drama as possible. This is also a big reason why she enjoys keeping things light-hearted. It's incredibly important for her to just "hang out" with her friends and enjoy their company in her life.

She has a strong interest in wizards and enjoys writing fanprose about them; she also likes to play old school video games. She prides herself on being a scientist specializing in ectobiology, dark fenestrology, and appearification. She's often bored because she's stuck underground, but enjoys partaking in some drunk RPing from time to time.

Roxy's way of communicating is very affable and friendly. She's a kind-hearted, fun person, who seems to be invested in not only having a good time, herself, but encouraging others to do so, too. She appears to think of herself as quite charming, and has quite a flirtatious way of connecting with others, regardless of real interest or not. She likes keeping the mood light, and will do what she can to accommodate to a situation or person in making the atmosphere as casual as possible. Contrary to her tricky and devious nature, Roxy can be quite outspoken and blunt about saying what's on her mind, which halfway appears to come from the intoxication itself. It's often about cutting to the point when she needs to, though, even if it's not a sensible or rational remark to make at all. If she feels it, she's often going to say it, and if she doesn't say it directly, Roxy will find a way to say it in a typo, innuendo, or sly remark.

She does, however, appear to be made of contradiction. Since she's often drunk, loose with her inhibitions, and makes inappropriate sexual innuendos while casually cursing, this image gives off an air of recklessness, showing her lack of control and composure, as she largely doesn't appear to hold a semblance of composure in many of her interactions. She's rather hot-headed in that sense, that she can be impulsive in her actions and words, though through typing she is awarded the courtesy to try and cover up any slip-ups, whether intentional or not, with what she feels she should be perceived to say or mean. Her inebriation gives her the advantage of being underestimated, and to Roxy, that's quite a fun advantage, indeed.

Roxy likes to get to the grit of things, which makes her a bit of a conspiracy theorist, but also can make her see the core basics of each person's character, and she's shown to be a good judge of such things. She can understand, even if intuitively, someone's personality traits, though she can get a bit carried away in teasing them about what they really want or secretly need. Most things are in good fun to Roxy, but in line with her typing and communicating, she's not above passive-aggressive gestures. Still, it is hard to make a remark against her that she will not confidently wave off or casually dismiss -- even cheerfully so. She is witty, sardonic, and quick... in her eyes, anyway, when it comes to responding to any sort of threat or rudeness. To others, she could just appear to be acting foolish and drunk.

Mischievous, playful, and cunning: Roxy is an embodiment of traits that manifest with clarity in her love for experiments. Roxy tends to gloat a bit about her interest as a scientist, and this all jumbles into her theorizing and conspiracies, which can come off with a seemingly deluded sense of confidence (at least to Jane) in whatever comes out of her mouth. She can be boastful about her talents and charm, and revels in positive attention with no shame regarding it.

As with everything and anything in her life, Roxy has to have a degree of control over the spotlight and love/attention she so desperately craves and feels she deserves, by maintaining her sense of privacy and secrecy. She enjoys showing off knowledge, but is vague and even dodgy at best in how she acquires it, and what she has done in her free time to gain such resources. She doesn't like to let on when she's trying to figure something out, which is helped by how underestimated she often is. She crafts her image carefully, though that doesn't mean she isn't genuinely silly or even ditzy at times.

Her tendency to do-before-she-thinks can cause many problems for her and her friends, especially with how easily she can guilt herself into acting to "make things right" for any friend she feels she or the world has wronged.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: I would like to work on fleshing out Roxy's character more while at Siren's Port, particularly regarding her tendency to indulge in conspiracy theories. I feel like Roxy would be very much into trying to discover the reasons behind her friends' and her arrival on the island, and she would enjoy befriending people who share her mindset. I would like for her to learn the consequences that may arise from her often reckless behavior/conspiracy theories while at SP, as well. Also, due to her often light-hearted, playful nature, I feel that Roxy would be a refreshing addition to the island's current inhabitants.

Trying to get into a bar was no big deal to Roxy Lalonde.

After all, it wasn't an idea she'd just now started to entertain in her mind. When there was nothing to do in her room back at home (that is, when she wasn't spending her time pestering friends, hacking computers for leisure, working on her science experiments, or playing old school video games), she'd often lay in her plush pile and imagine the thrill and excitement that bar life would bring. The free cocktails scored from men moved by her feminine wiles, the bar-hopping, the shots, the music... What more could a girl want?

The only thing stopping her from finally experiencing bar life here at Siren's Port was her age, of course. However, it wasn't anything an excellent fake ID couldn't fix.

"After all," she muttered to herself, unscrewing the cap of a clear water bottle. She paused to take a deep swig of the 'water' contained within, before replacing the bottle back into her purse and smirking mischievously to herself. "Age ain't nothing but a number."

A truer statement had never been uttered before. At just fifteen, Roxy was confident that she had enough alcohol tolerance in her to best even some men twice her size. At present, she stood in a line full of similar-looking males, all waiting to gain access to Slim's Irish Pub. Most people in line looked about ten years her elder, but still, she felt sure that she could pass as at least a nineteen-year-old.

The day was particularly humid, and Roxy's tipsiness was not making her feel any cooler. She wiped at the sweat on her brow, mentally cursing herself for not allowing her vodka to chill longer in the freezer before she'd left her apartment. Why was this taking so long?

Oh, right. It was smack dab in the middle of Happy Hour, and pizza slices were some insane price right now. A dollar, right? Mixed drinks were also priced pretty well... Roxy shrugged and moved forward a few steps as the three people in front of her were finally allowed entrance into the bar.

At last, it was her turn. She stood boldly before the large, scruffy-faced bouncer by the door, who did not match her cocky grin, but instead stuck his hand out expectantly. "ID?"

"Here you go!" She proudly revealed the card from her skirt pocket and handed it to him, fully prepared for any interrogations she might receive. Date of birth, place of residence... She had all that stuff memorized completely.

Instead, she was taken aback when he took a fleeting glance at her ID and shook his head, handing it back to her just as quickly as she'd handed it over.

"What the fuck are you doing-" she tried to protest, making sure to sound as indignant as possible, but the bouncer held up a hand to silence her.

"If you don't want to get arrested, sweetie, you'd scram right now. We don't play games with minors here."

Her eyes narrowed instinctively, and her lips parted, as if to try to push the issue further. She thought quickly about her options and decided that she unfortunately did not know as much as she should know about the city's regulations yet. Instead, she scowled and stuffed the ID back into her pocket, whirling around to leave the line and storm down the street.

After walking down a few blocks, she sighed loudly and plopped down on the pavement unceremoniously, wincing a bit at the sharp pain it brought. Man, what even happened back there?

She took out the plastic ID card and examined it closely, testing its durability by bending it a couple of times. She scowled again, clearly disgruntled. Her entire afternoon's plans had been ruined by that douchebag (and she was not even thinking about the bouncer back then -- she was thinking of the prick who made her the lousy fake), and now she had to come up with something else to do with her day.

"Shit. If you want to get something done, you really just gotta do it your own damn self," she muttered.

Guess she wasn't above trying to hack into the government's computers, after all.

Oh, well. At least it would help while away the time a bit.
